Aylsham is a historic market town. We design and make Shutters and blinds. Located in the town centre.
The great debate curtains or shutters rages on! Many people like to adorn their windows with swags, pelmets and curtains while others prefer venetian blinds Essex or plantation shutters. Those on the side of curtains prefer them as they say they feel warmer and cosier. They like the texture and the drape of curtains and they are often cheaper than blinds. Personally I am a shutter woman and I am not alone. Wooden blinds or shutters give a home a contemporary feel and they can also give a higher level of privacy. Curtains are by default open or closed. With shutters you can leave them down but open so that they let the light, but not the prying eyes, in.
Shutters are also so much more hygienic. Unless you wash curtains regularly (and let's face it, who does?) they can pick up dust and cooking smells. Shutters can be wiped clean in a few minutes using one of those handy little gadgets to pick up the dust. (more...) As an early convert to the wonders of shutters, I need no persuading on this front. Whether you are looking at venetians in Blackpool or blinds in Nottingham, they are all wonderful as far as I am concerned. One of the most appealing things about shutters is that they are so much more hygienic and far easier to clean than curtains. Curtains tend to soak up smells and grime pretty quickly, particularly if you have a lounge and diner combined and lets face it, most people do not wash them as often as they intend. With shutters, you can easily clean them with a special blinds brush and they come up as good as new time after time. Shutters come in all price tags and you can pick up a set for your house at any DIY store at a very reasonable price, you do not have to spend the earth. (more...) For that rustic look you have always dreamed of, have you ever thought of traditional wooden shutters? Picture that gorgeous and charming Norfolk cottage with ivy climbing up the wall and roses and peonies growing wild and free in the front garden. You know, the traditional cottage look, with wooden shutters and hand crafted doors and furniture. Although many people hanker after that country look, they do not want to live in the country and prefer to live in a home with all the modern comforts. And yet there is something that still attracts them and they would love to bring a little of the Norfolk country look to their modern home. Well, I am pleased to tell you that this is really and truly possible, with wooden shutters. They are designed using up to the minute technology but look completely traditional and authentic, lending an air of rustic charm to your house or flat. (more...) There is nothing like the American dream houses, spacious wooden homes with open verandas and neat lawns. Unfortunately house prices are too dear to be able to afford the American dream home, but you can bring a little of the American style to your flat or house with American shutters - and believe me they make a difference!
Picture them colonial style American shutters, maybe in varnished wood or white, which really lend an elegant and stylish look to your home. You can choose from multi-slatted ones, which let more light in, or solid panel ones, it is really just a matter of personal preference. American shutters look great in almost any type of home and if you like the American style you should couple them with a crisp and clean design, maybe light furniture and a blue colour scheme. (more...) Shutters are becoming increasingly popular with people out to improve their homes, as they add a touch of individuality whilst being relatively affordable. They allow a regulated flow of natural light into a room, and can also be used to block light from the outside coming in at night. Normally, these quality shutters are made to order, and as such do take some time to arrive. However, once they do, installation is very simple, as all the guide holes will be pre-drilled, and the shutters are ready to hang straight out of the box. Installation can be done by a professional, but any competent DIY enthusiast will have them up within a matter of minutes. Indeed, there are diy shutters norfolk which are quick and simple to install, and each shutter would take no longer than fifteen minutes to hang. (more...) There is no denying that quality wooden window shutters add a beautiful finishing touch to a house, whether they are exterior shutters or interior ones. In particular, the more unique the shutters, the better they look and the more value that they add. Kelly Hoppen has been designing window dressings for many years, and over time, has gravitated more towards the design of shutters. Bringing all her experience to bear, there are now a range of shutter styles, designs and colours available for purchase to enhance any room in any home.
Shutters can be used to both enhance and restrict the light entering a room, depending on the circumstances and the time of year. By using the louvers on these wooden blinds to the best effect, a room can be made to seem lighter and more spacious, as well as more elegant. (more...) Many people have had there privacy taken away from them in there home because someone may have peeped at them through there blinds. When you are at home, you are supposed to feel safe. In order to make sure that no one peeps into your home again, buy better window coverings. At blinds direct you can buy shutters that will cover the whole window. Make sure you measure the window to get the right size. There are no little holes in them like blinds have. When you want to let in some light, just open them. Once you close them, there are shut tight. Also, there is no need to put extra window coverings on the shutters. No one will be able to see in. Wood shutters come in many colors, such as brown and white. It does not matter which color you decide to get because it will still keep you safe from peepers. At night, you will not be able to see any light from the inside. The only way any light can come through is when you open it. (more...)
